Additionally, wild bees create hives within the forest. The bees collect nectar from flowers and bring it back to their hives. After a certain period, the honey is harvested from the hives. This is how Bangladesh’s only organic honey is obtained.

Collection Method

Collection Method: In Bangladesh, honey is collected from 3-4 species of bees. From March to June, flowers such as Sundari, Gewa, Goran, Pashur, Bain, Hental, Khamu, Lata Sundari, Keora, Dhundul, Amur, Sheila, Oda, Kankra, Singra, Jhana, and Khulshi bloom in Sundarbans. Beekeepers place their beehives near Sundarbans or inside the forest. Bees from species like Apis mellifera, Apis cerana, and Apis dorsata gather nectar from these flowers and bring it to their hives. Honey is then collected once it matures.
